2-Ethyhexyl Methacrylate(EHMA)

2-Ethyhexyl Methacrylate(EHMA)

CAS NO.: 28675-80-1

Physicochemical properties of EHMA

Density: 0.890 g/cm3 (at 20 °C)
Boiling point: 247°C at 760 mmHg
Flash point: 91.4°C
Steam pressure: 0.0263mmHg at 25°C

Transportation and Storage of EHMA

2-Ethyhexyl Methacrylate (EHMA) should be stored in cool ventilated warehouses and kept away from fire, heat sources, and light. The temperature in warehouses should not exceed 30°C. The storage container should be tightly closed. EHMA should not be allowed to contact with air and should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, and alkalis to avoid mixing. An appropriate variety and quantity of fire equipment should be installed and in storage areas, spill treatment equipment and suitable containment materials should be prepared. Sunshine, rain, and high temperature should be prevented during its transportation. It should be stored in a cool, dark, ventilated place away from fire.

Applications of EHMA

EHMA is used in organic glass comonomer to improve the plasticity of plexiglass. It is also used in coating resins, adhesives, lubricants, textile auxiliaries, as well as the paper making, fiber industry and other industries. The product of EHMA is stored in a cool, dark, ventilated place away from fire sources. EHMA is used for the organic glass comonomer to improve the plasticity of the plexiglass.

Leakage Disposal of EHMA

  • Respiratory system protection: Wear a gas mask when the concentration of EHMA in the air exceeds the safety limit.
  • Eye protection: Wear chemical safety glasses.
  • Protective clothing: Wear work clothes (made of anti-corrosion materials).
  • Hand protection: Wear rubber gloves.
  • Others: After work, get bathed and changed. Pay attention to personal hygiene.
  • Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse the skin immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. If burns occur, seek medical advice.
  • Eye contact: Lift the eyelid immediately and flush it with running water or saline for at least 15 minutes. Go and seek medical advice.
  • Inhalation: One should remove  quickly from the scene to somewhere else with fresh air and keep his respiratory tract open. Do artificial respiration if necessary and seek medical advice.
  • Ingestion: Accidental drinkers should drink plenty of warm water, induce vomiting, and seek medical advice.
  • Extinguishing materials: water mist, carbon dioxide, sand, and foam.
