2-Hydroxyl Propyl Methyacrylate(HPMA)

This product of 2-hydroxyl popyl methyacrylate (HPMA) can be copolymerized with other acrylic monomers to produce acrylic resins containing reactive hydroxyl groups. It reacts with melamine formaldehyde resin, diisocyanate, and epoxy resin to produce two-component coatings. It is also used as an adhesive for synthetic textiles and as an additive for detersive lubricating oils.

HPMA is used as a cross-linking monomer for the manufacture of solvent or emulsion acrylate adhesives. By its copolymerizing with other acrylic monomers, acrylic resins containing reactive hydroxyl groups can be prepared which are used as medical materials, dental materials, photosensitive materials, and the like. By its reacting with diisocyanate, epoxy resin, melamine-formaldehyde resin, etc., two-component or thermosetting coatings can be prepared for the coating of automobiles, household appliances, and colored metal shells. HPMA is also used as a synthetic textile adhesive to replace sutures and can also be used to manufacture natural or synthetic fiber treatment agents, other synthetic resins, and ink modifiers.

HPMA is slightly hazardous to water. If there is no government permission, do not discharge the material into the surrounding environment. It will not be decomposed if used and stored according to specifications.

HPMA should be avoided to contact with oxides. It is soluble in common solvents and somewhat soluble in water. It is a flammable, micro-toxic chemical.

In case of inadvertent contact with your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear appropriate protective clothing and gloves. HPMA causes allergy by skin contac and is irritating to eyes, the respiratory system, and skin.
