Uses of DMC
Dimethyl carbonate product can be used as traditional substitute of toxic materials phosgene, dimethyl sulfate and methyl chloride and so on. It can be used for synthesis of polycarbonate, diphenyl carbonate, isocyanate and allyl diglycol carbonate ester; it can also used for the synthesis of various kinds of carbamate pesticides such as carbaryl and so on; it can also be used as intermediate of organic synthesis such as anisole, dimethoxybenzene, alkylated aryl amines, symmetrical diamine urea, methyl carbazate and so on; in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used for making amino oxazolidinone, ciprofloxacin, 尾-keto acid ester class pharmaceutical intermediates. In addition, it can be used as additives of gasoline, diesel fuel, the refrigerator oil and solvent.

Chemical properties of DMC
Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is a colorless transparent liquid with a pungent odor. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
DMC is an intermediate for the herbicide savoyin and also a methylating agent.
DMC can replace phosgene, dimethyl sulfate and methyl chloride, which are traditionally used as toxic raw materials. It can be used for non-phosgene synthesis of polycarbonate, diphenyl carbonate, isocyanate and allyl diglycol carbonate. It can be utilized for the synthesis of various carbamate pesticides such as carbaryl. It can ve used as organic synthesis intermediates in the production of anisole, dimethyl dimethyl ether, alkyl aryl amine, symmetric diamino urea, methyl carbazate, etc. It is applied in the pharmaceutical industry and can be used to prepare amino oxazolidone, ciprofloxacin, β-ketocarboxylic acid esters and other pharmaceutical intermediates. In addition, it can also be used as an additive for gasoline and diesel, as well as a solvent for refrigerator oil.
DMC is used in chemical synthesis of methylating agents and carbonylating agents, and widely used in food antioxidants, plant protection agents, and other fields.
