1. Isobutanol can be used as a co-solvent for nitrocellulose and a solution for ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl butyral, various oils, rubbers, and natural resins. It can serve as an organic synthetic raw material to make petroleum additives, antioxidants, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, isobutyl acetate (paint solvents), plasticizers, synthetic rubbers, artificial musks, essential oils, esters, and synthetic drugs. It can also be used to purify salt chemicals such as cesium, rubidium, and lithium, as well as be used as an advanced solvent. It has a limited range of applications and must not be used to make agricultural plastics because isobutanol can cause crops to die.

2. Isobutanol can be used as a reagent to determine calcium, barium, strontium, sodium, potassium, lithium, silver, chlorine, and phosphite. It can be applied for chromatographic analysis of reference materials. It is also a common solvent and extracting agent to extract lithium chloride from a mixture of lithium chloride and sodium chloride or potassium chloride.

3. Isobutanol is a basic organic chemical raw material, a diluent for adhesives, an a solvent for ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl butyral, rubbers, natural resins, and various oils. It can also be used to purify salt, hydrazine, lithium and other salt chemical reagents. At present, domestic isobutanol is mainly used for producing the plasticizer of diisobutyl phthalate and as a solvent for isobutyl acetate. A small part of isobutanol is used for producing isobutyl butyrate and isobutyl lactate.

4. Isobutanol is mainly used as a solvent and in organic synthesis.
