CAS No: 71-36-3
N-butanlo is mainly used in the manufacture of n-butyl ester plasticizers for phthalic acid, aliphatic dibasic acids and phosphoric acid. They are widely used in various plastics and rubber products, as well as a raw material of synthesized butyraldehyde, butyric acid, butylamine, and butyl lactate. It can also be served as an extracting agent of fats, drugs (such as antibiotics, hormones and vitamins), and spices, as well as an alkyd paint additive. It can be used as a solvent for organic dyes and printing inks and also be utilized as a dewaxing agent.
N-butanlo can be used as plasticizers in the production of butyl acetate, dibutyl phthalate and phosphate. It is applied for producing melamine resin, acrylic acid, epoxy varnish, etc.; for chromatographic analysis reagents and organic synthesis; for formulating flavors in bananas, butter, whiskey, and cheese.
N-butanlo should be packed in clean and dry railway tanks or galvanized iron drums, each with a net weight of 150 kg. Packaging containers should be strictly sealed and be stored in a dry, ventilated warehouse at a temperature not exceeding 35°C and away from sources of ignition, combustibles, oxidants, and acids. The product of N-butanlo can be transported by car or train under transport regulations of dangerous goods.
Solubility: N-butanlo is slightly soluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents including ethanol and ether.
Stability: N-butanlo is stable.
