Uses of Propylene Carbonate(PC)
In the electronic industry, propylene carbonate (PC) can be used as a medium for high-energy batteries and capacitors. In the polymer industry, it can be used as a solvent and plasticizer for polymers, as a plasticizer for adhesives and sealants, as a curing accelerator for phenolic resins, and as a dispersion agent for water-soluble adhesives and pigments. In the chemical industry, it is the main raw material for the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate. It can also be used for the removal of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide in natural gas and petroleum pyrolysis gas. In addition, it can also be used in the textile, printing and dyeing and other industrial fields.
Package: It is packed in 200 kg galvanized iron drums and can also be packaged according to customer requirements.
PC is a colorless and odorless flammable liquid. It is miscible in ether, acetone, benzene, chloroform, vinyl acetate, etc. and soluble in water and carbon tetrachloride. Its carbon dioxide absorption ability is strong and it has stable properties. Industrially, PC is gained by the reaction of propylene oxide and carbon dioxide under a certain pressure and distillation under reduced pressure. It can be used for oil solvents, spinning solvents, olefins, aromatics extractants, carbon dioxide absorbers, water-soluble dyes and pigment dispersants.
Storage of Propylene Carbonate(PC)
PC should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. The cylinder should be placed vertically to avoid heat and exposure.
It is packed in galvanized iron drums or paint buckets with a net weight of 250 kg/barrel. It can also be packaged in ISO TANK or according to customer requirements.
It should be stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse and be kept away from fire and heat sources. It should be kept away from oxidizers and never be stored together. An appropriate variety and quantity of fire equipment should be installed. In storage areas, spill treatment equipment and suitable containment materials should be prepared. It is transported under regulations of general chemicals.
